Jason - Barcelona Counseling (1).png
Jason Vásquez,  QMHP-I

Jason holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Oregon and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling at Lewis & Clark. He has experience working in both in-patient and residential settings with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds dealing with a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, trauma, and relationship difficulties.

Jason is bilingual in both English and Spanish. Creating a safe and welcoming space for clients is a top priority. Jason deeply respects the courage it takes to seek counseling and will work hard to ensure that clients feel supported and heard. His experiences have deeply shaped his clinical work, and he believes in utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and relational cultural theory (RCT) to support his clients in achieving their goals.

Jason believes in the power of humor to promote healing and connection. He incorporates humor and creativity into his sessions as a way to help clients feel more relaxed and engaged. Whether using laughter to break down barriers or simply to take a momentary break from heavier topics, he finds that humor can be a valuable tool for promoting insight and growth. He believes in empowering his clients to take an active role in their therapy journey and understands the importance of cultural competence. He will strive to integrate cultural awareness and sensitivity into his therapy practice.

Outside of work, Jason enjoys camping, attending sports games, thrifting, building Legos, and trying out new restaurants in Portland. Ultimately, he believes that finding joy and being present in everyday moments is an important part of maintaining mental health and overall wellbeing.
