Gemma holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology (Argosy) from the District of Columbia since 2008.
She is trained in human growth and development, counseling theory, maladaptive behavior and psychopathology, counseling skills, professional and ethical issues, couples and family counseling, trauma treatment (including EMDR), group counseling, career development, social and cultural foundations, research and evaluation, substance abuse, and human sexuality in counseling.
Additionally, she holds a Degree in Social Work from the University of Social Work from Barcelona, Spain since 1995. Gemma is also proficient in Spanish, English, Spanish Sign Language, and Catalan.
Gemma is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) recognized by the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (OBLPCT), a Mental Health Counselor Licensed (LH) by the Washington State Department of Health, and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) recognized by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).
She adheres to the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists' Code of Ethics. Furthermore, to be able to continue improving her knowledge and counseling skills, she reports 40 hours of Continuing Education (CE) to the OBLPCT, to the Washington State, and a 100 hours of CE to the NBCC.
She is also a Certified Mediator from Resolutions Northwest Mediation Services since July 2003, a Gang Specialist Certified with the National Gang Crime Research Center since August 2004, and a Stewards of Children’s Authorized Facilitator in Child Sexual Abuse Prevention since October 2008.
