Looking forward to his journey as a Mental Health Counseling Intern at Barcelona
Counseling, Jorge brings a diverse background to the table. Jorge is a Third Culture
Kid, having existed in different cultures in the in-between of what it means to be
Mexican-American. Along with a decade of military service, he brings ample experience rallying communities behind social justice causes, particularly around the immigrant experience and the environment. He graduated from Portland State University with a degree in Psychology and is currently working on obtaining his Master’s degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling, at Lewis & Clark College.

Jorge delivers client-centered care through an Existential-Humanistic lens that works to empower individuals to make meaningful changes in their lives, while incorporating elements of Relational-Cultural Theory. By creating a non-judgemental and welcoming therapeutic space, he hopes that his clients can develop deep trust within the healing process. The client is the expert of their lived experience, and Jorge works to bring that to the forefront of the therapeutic process to provide holistic, empowering support.

In his spare time you can find Jorge volunteering, bird watching, nerding out about cars, or learning to play the saxophone.
