Dr. Lorena Vázquez Santiago, QHMP
Dr. Lorena Vázquez Santiago was born in New York and raised in Puerto Rico, where she discovered her passion for mental health at an early age. She holds a strong academic background, including a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus, and a doctorate in Clinical – Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles, Campus. Currently licensed as a Psychologist in Puerto Rico, she holds a Rehabilitation Counseling License (LRC) in Puerto Rico and is licensed as a Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) in the state of Texas under the supervision of Dr. Shawna Corley. She has recently registered as Qualified Mental Health Professional in the state of Oregon (QMHP-R).
Her professional experience spans a wide range of direct services to diverse populations, primarily working with adolescents and adults. She is known for her humanistic approach to therapeutic interventions complemented by different treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, among others. She provides individual, family, group, and couple therapy. She has worked on cases related to sexual abuse, gender violence, family violence, trauma, suicide prevention, among others, both in Puerto Rico and different states in United States. Additionally, she provides consultation to multidisciplinary teams in mental health matter, and collaborates with agencies within the legal system, such as jails and Courts.
