Sofia Bieniak, Professional Counselor Associate
 

Sofia holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology with a focus in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Sofia has also earned a graduate certificate in Trauma-Informed Care.

 

Sofia’s theoretical approach is based on Person-Centered Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Interpersonal Therapy. She also offers Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy. Sofia is passionate about using various evidence-based modalities to fully tailor her approach to the personal needs of her clients. She believes that each person is the expert of their own experiences and wants to work in an open and collaborative relationship with the client to help empower them to reach their goals. Sofia hopes to become a safe place for each individual to learn more about themselves and walk alongside them throughout their healing journey. She views therapy from a trauma-informed lens while understanding the impact various systems can have on overall well being. Sofia understands the importance of cultural competences and strives to integrate cultural awareness and sensitivity into her therapy practice.

Sofia has worked with clients who have experienced various types of trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. However, she is open to working with individuals on a wide range of concerns. Sofia has experience working with those with marginalized identities within the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ community. She also has experience working with the active duty military population, veterans, and their families. Sofia understands that it takes strength, courage, and vulnerability to reach out for help and is committed to approaching each client with empathy and compassion.

Sofia offers EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy.

 

Sofia is new to the state of Oregon and outside of work enjoys spending time at the beach, photography, and exploring the Pacific Northwest with her partner and their dog Juno.
